The Gallery on Montana is a furnished art space in San Antonio. Up to 40 people fit inside, and the yard has held more than 100. Here is how a shower usually flows there.
The main gallery. Collected furniture, rugs and lamplight already set the mood, so you need far less decor than in a blank room.
The gallery wall. Oil paintings and gilded frames floor to ceiling. The group photo spot.
The yard. Add the yard: a picnic table under an umbrella and open lawn for games or a dessert table.
Up to 40 people inside, and the yard has held more than 100. Bring your own food vendor. The Gallery never sells, provides or stores alcohol; for mimosas, bring your own and hire a TABC-certified bartender to serve them.
Through November 1: shoots and meetings from $55 an hour, events from $60 an hour. Golden hour runs a little more. Peerspace shows the final price.

Because the rooms are already full of collected furniture, rugs, oil paintings and lamplight, you need far less decor than in a blank room. Many hosts bring only flowers, a cake and a sign.
Up to 40 guests fit inside. For a bigger list, or a shower with lots of kids, add the yard: the picnic table under the umbrella and the open lawn give overflow seating and room for games.
The Gallery does not cater. Bring a caterer, a bakery or a potluck. Plan where the caterer will drop off and give them your booking start time, so food arrives during setup, not during arrivals.
The Gallery never sells, provides or stores alcohol. If you want mimosas, bring your own and hire a TABC-certified bartender to serve them. Many hosts go alcohol-free with agua fresca, a sparkling juice bar or mocktails.

Tip: See it first. Bookings are by the hour on Peerspace, where current rates are listed. To see the rooms, book a tour with Nathan and share your decor ideas.
Include your setup and pack up time in the hours you book. A 3 hour booking covers most showers. Before you book, confirm your headcount including kids and partners, decide if you need the yard, and line up your food vendor.
Because the rooms already have so much to look at, guests tend to wander, sit in different chairs and explore the art, which keeps conversation going naturally. Plan your activity in a spot where everyone can gather, then let people drift between the salon, the long table and the yard. It is one of the easiest settings for a shower where people actually talk.
When you tour, bring your headcount, a rough run of show and photos of any decor ideas. Walk the route a guest will take from the front door to the food, the gift table and the yard, and decide where the guest of honor will sit for gifts. Many hosts take quick photos of each room on the tour so co hosts who could not come can plan along.
Ask on the tour about arrival time, where vendors should unload and anything you are unsure about. A ten minute walk through answers more questions than a long message thread, and it makes the day itself feel familiar.
Tip: Plan the yard. If you are using the yard, decide what goes there before the day: games, a dessert table or extra seating. Bring a tablecloth for the picnic table.
Planning a bigger celebration too? The birthday party guide follows the same format.
